VHAN Spotlight: Meet Beverly Puckett
For the past seven years, VHAN’s Beverly Puckett, RN, BSN, has served as a connection between the network and pediatric practice members who have contracted lives enrolled with VHAN. While Beverly’s current title is Principal Clinical Quality Transformation Advisor, she also has extensive experience in clinical settings—specifically spending 23 years in cancer care. At VHAN, Beverly enjoys connecting with practices and their staff, applying her clinical background to the challenges facing VHAN members.
“In this role I take care of the providers and administrators who care for patients,” she explains. “My clinical experience helps me to better understand the challenges providers face.”
Beverly often connects her practices to fellow VHAN members to facilitate best practice sharing, such as achieving Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) designation, finding vital payor information, tracking the pediatric modifier points and much more. She is also quick to care for providers in any way possible.
“When I meet with my practices, I always remind providers to get something to eat before our meetings,” she says. “Most days they don’t have time to eat, and I am grateful when they spend their lunch hour with me—but that self-care comes first.”
Beverly serves as a connection point for more than 30 VHAN practices. It’s important to her that members know they should never hesitate to reach out to their Network Clinical Quality Transformation Advisor. “There is no question too small—no dumb questions,” she says. “We will always do our best to answer and help as quickly as possible and dig to the bottom to get what you need.”
Outside of work, Beverly is a true animal lover and advocate. She currently has four rescue pets and is a docent at The Elephant Discovery Center, which is the public-facing area of The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.
