This was the case with a 64-year-old patient who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and several other conditions. After a hospitalization, the patient moved in with her daughter and husband, but she still needed more help to manage her health at home. That’s when VHAN’s social work care navigators stepped in.

As the omicron variant continues its dominance, many providers are looking for new ways to treat COVID-19 in patients. While new oral drugs, such as Paxlovid and molnupiravir, are authorized for emergency use, they can be difficult and time-consuming to prescribe. In partnership with VUMC, VHAN pharmacists have developed a guide to prescribing COVID oral antivirals in the outpatient setting.
Continuing to use the COVID-19 public health emergency to extend relief to providers, CMS is applying the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) automatic extreme and uncontrollable circumstances (EUC) policy to all clinicians eligible to participate in MIPS as individuals for the 2021 performance year.
