New ACO Beneficiary Notification Details
As we kick off 2022, we want to make sure our Connected Care ACO participants are up to date on CMS Beneficiary Notification requirements for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP). This year there are a few important changes to note:
- ACOs who chose prospective assignment are no longer required to furnish written notices to all Medicare beneficiaries, rather they are only required to send notices to beneficiaries that are on their prospective assignment list.
- ACOs that have selected preliminary prospective assignment with retrospective reconciliation are still required to submit written notices to all Medicare FFS beneficiaries receiving primary care services from ACO providers.
- All ACOs, regardless of assignment methodology, are still required to furnish notices prior to or at the first primary care visit of the performance year, and this may done via e-mail, mail or EMR portal.
Connected Care West Tennessee and Connected Care East Tennessee participants need to notify beneficiaries that have been prospectively assigned to them. A VHAN representative will be in touch with this information.
Connected Care Middle Tennessee participants should notify all Medicare FFS beneficiaries.
