When VHAN Social Worker Mary Brooks found out that one of her patients in West Tennessee had fallen and broken a foot while trying to get into her home, she immediately began thinking of ways to help.

The new Aetna Medicare Advantage (MA) contract is measured across quality and cost performance, and participation means expanded access to high-value, low-cost care for MA patients across the network. The network’s new agreement with Aetna brings VHAN to three MA contracts, alongside Cigna MA and Humana MA.

NexusACO is now available to self-funded and fully insured employers in Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. VHAN providers will be featured in Tier 1 of the NexusACO network, with members incentivized through lower copays to choose these physicians for their care.

When the pandemic hit in March 2020, West Tennessee Healthcare (WTH) faced the same dilemmas as health care organizations across the country: With a lack of available PPE, safety concerns for doctors and patients, and the inability to reach many patients in person, WTH needed to launch a telehealth program quickly.

Many have sounded the alarm about the startling drop in preventive cancer screenings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The inaugural VHANtage Point online forum was launched to help address this issue and motivate patients to schedule their screenings.
